Actor Tom Sizemore Passes Away at 61

Tom Sizemore, an actor known for his roles in Saving Private Ryan and Natural Born Killers, has died after being taken off life support.[0] His manager, Charles Lago, confirmed the news in a statement to Variety.[1] Sizemore was 61 years old.

Sizemore had suffered a brain aneurysm on February 18, leaving him in critical condition.[2] On February 28, doctors confirmed that he would not live, prompting his family to make the decision to take him off life support.[3] His twin sons, Jayden and Jagger (17), were by his side when he passed away.[4]

Sizemore's substance abuse issues were well-known, and included his conviction of domestic abuse against his then-girlfriend, Hollywood madam Heidi Fleiss.[5] He was also sent home from the set of Natural Born Killers due to sexual assault allegations by an 11-year-old girl, although the charges were later dropped.

Throughout his life, Sizemore struggled with addiction to drugs, with his attempt to end his addiction the focus of a 2007 docuseries Shooting Sizemore.[3] He would later appear on the VH1 reality series Celebrity Rehab and Celebrity Rehab: Sober House.[3]

Sizemore developed a reputation for playing tough guy roles in films like Heat and Steve Spielberg’s Saving Private Ryan, which earned him an Oscar nomination.[6] His other roles included Harley Davidson And The Marlboro Man, True Romance, Pearl Harbor, Robbery Homicide Division, Entourage, It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia, Shooter, and Twin Peaks: The Return.[7] He was also seen more recently in the Netflix series Cobra Kai and the independent supernatural film Impuratus.

Sizemore is survived by his two children, Jagger and Jayden, whom he shared with Janelle McIntire.[4] His family has requested privacy during this difficult time and asked for people to continue sending their messages of support.[8]

Tributes have been pouring in from his colleagues, including actor Wendell Pierce, who shared a loving message on Twitter, writing, “One of my first films was with Tom Sizemore.[9] A bon vivant and great actor.[9] God bless him.[9]
