Morgan Wallen Faces Fan Lawsuit After Canceling Concert Due to Lost Voice

Country music star Morgan Wallen has found himself at the center of controversy after he was forced to cancel a concert in Mississippi due to losing his voice.[0] Wallen took to social media to apologize to his fans, stating that he had spent the day resting up, talking to his doctor, and working through his vocal exercises to try and get better.[1] However, despite his best efforts, he was unable to perform and had to cancel the concert. This led to a lawsuit being filed against him by a fan who claimed that Wallen had breached his contract and was negligent in canceling the show.[2]

The canceled concert was set to take place at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium in Mississippi and was part of Wallen's One Night at a Time World Tour. The opening acts had already performed, and thousands of concertgoers were left disappointed and frustrated when a displayed message announced that the show had been canceled due to Wallen losing his voice.

The lawsuit was filed by Brandi Burcham, who had tickets to see Wallen at the Vaught Hemingway Stadium.[3] Burcham filed the federal lawsuit on Monday, accusing Wallen of breach of contract and negligence. She claimed that Wallen had failed to deliver on his promise to perform, leading to her and other concertgoers incurring expenses in connection with the concert cancellation, including transportation, lodging, food, merchandise sales, transaction fees, and other expenses.

The lawsuit was filed “on behalf of herself and all other similarly situated” concertgoers who attended Wallen's show.[4] Burcham sought compensatory damages for all affected patrons who incurred expenses in connection with Wallen’s failure to perform. However, the suit was voluntarily dismissed on Tuesday, according to Vulture.[5]

BEST Crowd Management, the company responsible for providing security at the concert, released a statement saying that a hired employee had made false claims about the concert's cancellation.[0] Wallen's management also responded to the incident, stating that the cancellation was due to the singer losing his voice and that he had tried everything possible to perform.

Following the canceled concert, Wallen postponed three upcoming tour dates of his One Night at a Time World Tour.[6] His shows in Michigan, Illinois, and Nebraska were rescheduled for June 27, September 8, and September 9, respectively. Wallen shared the new dates on his Instagram story, stating that all original tickets would be honored for the new dates and that fans could contact their point of purchase for refund queries.[7]

In his social media posts, Wallen expressed his disappointment at being unable to perform for his fans and promised to do everything possible to speed up the process of getting his voice back to 100%. The canceled concert has brought Wallen negative attention, but he remains a popular country music artist with a loyal fan base.
