Unraveling the Secrets of ‘The Mandalorian’ Season 3
The Mandalorian is back and bigger than ever with Season 3, now streaming on Disney+.[0] After a two-year hiatus, the first episode of the season dropped on March 1, with new episodes premiering every Wednesday until April 19. Season 3 of The Mandalorian takes a deep dive into the Mandalorian culture, exploring the divided peoples of Mandalore and the Mandalorian history going into the season.[1]
The episode titled “The Apostate” sees Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and Grogu (Baby Yoda) take a journey to the planet Kalevala, where they meet Bo-Katan Kryze (Katee Sackhoff). Bo-Katan reveals that since she couldn’t win the Darksaber from Mando in honorable combat, her allies have abandoned her and her plans to retake Mandalore have been put on hold. As we learn from Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars: Rebels, the only way to truly claim the Darksaber is to win it in battle.
In order to make his way to Mandalore and redeem himself after taking off his helmet and breaking the sacred oath of the Mandalorians, Mando enlists the help of his old friend IG-11, and they set off in an N-1 Starfighter.[2] On their way there, they come across something very interesting in hyperspace: the Purrgil, a race of space whales capable of naturally traveling through hyperspace.[3]
The season finale of The Mandalorian will give fans an answer as to whether Bo-Katan will attempt to take the Darksaber from Din Djarin. Reports have it that Eman Esfandi will play Ezra Bridger, the Jedi apprentice from Star Wars: Rebels, in the Ahsoka series, and that Thrawn and Ezra will make a reappearance in the Mandoverse saga.[4]
